Digital Atomizer-Lab: Atomisation with spray propagation

Background:

Creation of a basic module for digital twins for modelling liquid atomisation processes with spray propagation.


Objectives:

Modelling of the entire atomisation process from initial liquid disintegration to subsequent spray propagation.


Challenges:

The transient simulation requires long computing times. Special model optimisation for efficient calculation, preferably using cloud resources.


Solution approach:



Comparison of simulation experiment: particle sizes and velocities in the spray (Deux benchmark)

Core functionality:

Development and implementation of a transition model from a continuous (VoF) to a discrete consideration (Euler-Lagrange method).


Application:

Various atomisation applications such as AdBlue injection or paint atomisation.
